Participate In The 2019 Walk To End Alzheimer’s

Right now, there is not a cure for Alzheimer’s, but providing researchers with more funding can change that. You can help researchers get money to find a cure by participating in the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s West Alabama. The walk will take place on Oct. 27 at Snow Hinton Park in Tuscaloosa, AL. Walkers need to register at 1 p.m. A ceremony will take place at 3 p.m., and the walk will begin at 3:15 p.m. You can register for free, but consider fundraising. You can fundraise as an individual or team, and the money will help researchers in the quest to cure this disease.

The Walk

This walk is only two miles long. You can bring a stroller with you if you have a child that wants to participate. You can also bring your leashed pet along for the walk.

If you don’t have a stroller or pet, consider bringing your Promise Garden Flower along with you for the walk. You will receive the flower when you register on race day. If you have Alzheimer’s or dementia, your flower will be blue. If you have lost a loved one to the disease, you will receive a purple flower. You will receive a yellow flower if you are supporting or caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s. Don’t feel like you need a connection to the disease, though. If you support the cause but are not personally affected, you will receive an orange flower.

Raising Funds

The money raised during the walk goes to the Alzheimer’s Association. The association will use the funds for research, support, and care. Along with providing the association with much-needed funds, you can earn rewards by fundraising. If you raise $100, you will receive an official Alzheimer’s walk T-shirt. Raising $500 will give you entrance into the Champions Club. If you raise $1,000, you’ll be part of the Grand Champions Club and receive a heathered soft tee. Raising $2,500 will grant you membership to the Elite Grand Champions Club. You will also receive a pullover.

The event’s hosts make fundraising easy. You will get a fundraising page to use to raise funds. If someone gives you a donation offline, you can submit it to the Alzheimer’s Association. Then, it will appear on your fundraising page.
