Don’t Miss The Garden Party

October 21st, 2019 by

Have you heard the news? The Annual Schoolyard Roots Garden Party will be at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Nov. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Single admission tickets are $50 and include two drink tickets. You can save $2.50 per ticket by buying them in groups of four. This year, there are even special kids’ tickets for $10. If you have more than one child, it’s $10 for the first and $5 for additional tickets.

Are you new to the Garden Party? Check out some reason why this celebration is not to be missed.

The Food

The Schoolyard Roots Garden Party is a foodie festival at heart. Many say it’s the best food festival in Alabama and for good reason. Some of Tuscaloosa’s best restaurants pair with local farmers to create dazzling dishes. And here’s the thing. The creations cannot be found in local restaurants. The chefs use fresh ingredients to experiment and put twists on local favorites.

The Drinks

You can grab a beer just about anywhere in Tuscaloosa, right? Why go to a special party to get a drink? Again, it’s all about creativity. Local craft brewers also experiment at the festival. The local farmers provide them with ingredients to use to change up their brews. You will gain a new appreciation for beer when you go here.

Live Music

Do you need another reason to go to the Garden Party? How about some swing and dance music? Chuck King and the Swing Kings will be playing at the garden party. Chuck King is one of the most talented musicians in the state of Alabama. He’s part of multiple bands that play different styles of music. The Swing Kings are the perfect choice for this party. You’ll have a hard time keeping your feet still when the music starts playing.

The Silent Auction

The silent auction is another reason to attend this event. You never know what you might find at the auction. One year, a knitted-out raised bed garden was up for auction. You could throw this garden in your backyard and get to gardening. That’s just one example of the cool things you can find.

The Kids Area

Remember that $10 you need to pay for your kid to enjoy the party? That’s money well spent. This year, Schoolyard Roots is partnering with the Tuscaloosa YMCA to provide a fun time for the kids. You can drop your kids off in the special kids’ zone to enjoy the party while your child has a blast. If your child likes pizza, movies, and fun activities, the evening will be a hit.
